Up for sale is a used Aphex Tubessence Model 107 2-Channel Thermionic Microphone Preamplifier. This one was tested here in our shop and works as it should. It is in very good cosmetic condition. Aphex Model 107, a dual-channel tube microphone preamplifier renowned for its warm, detailed sound and versatile functionality. Utilizing Aphex’s patented “Tubessence” technology, this preamp combines a solid-state front end with a low-voltage tube gain stage, delivering the sonic characteristics of traditional tube amplification while maintaining low noise and extended tube life. Each of the two independent channels offers up to 64dB of gain, accommodating a wide range of microphones and recording scenarios.

The front panel features XLR inputs for easy access, along with essential controls including a 20dB pad, phase invert switch, 80Hz low-cut filter (12dB/octave), and a continuously variable gain knob. Each channel is equipped with independently switchable 48V phantom power, indicated by a red LED, ensuring compatibility with condenser microphones. Additionally, signal presence and overload LEDs provide visual monitoring to prevent clipping. The rear panel offers impedance-balanced 1/4″ TRS outputs with selectable +4dBu or -10dBV operating levels, enhancing integration with various audio interfaces and recording equipment.
