String instruments come in many sizes, so it’s very important to bring the student along when renting so they get an instrument that fits them. STRING INSTRUMENTS WE RENT
The violin is the highest-pitched instrument in the orchestra. It has four strings and is played by moving a bow back and forth across the strings. Rosin is applied to the bow to create friction with the strings, causing them to resonate. Violins come in many different sizes. The proper size is determined by the arm length of the student.

- A+ Grade – $21.95 / month
- A Grade – $19.95 / month
- B Grade – $17.95 / month
- C Grade – $15.95 / month

Violas look similar to violins, but are lower pitched and larger than violins. Violas tend to have thicker bodies than a violin, and are listed by using inch measurements instead of fractional sizing. Violas come is sizes from 12 inches to 17 inches, which refers to the length of the body of the instrument. Full size violas are considered to be over 15 1/2 inches.

Cellos are played sitting down in a chair with the instrument resting on the floor using a peg that protrudes from the bottom of the instrument. Cellos are much larger that violins and violas!

The upright or double bass is the largest member of the orchestra. Although full size basses exist, most people consider the 3/4 size bass to be a full size. Like all the others, it comes in smaller sizes for younger or smaller players.
